Shared repository
Obeo SmartEA is based on a common repository that can be shared between all the members of your Enterprise Architecture team.
Access to the repository is secured (SSO OpenId Connect or LDAP) and customizable with profiles (types of information, views, and features).
Once connected users can work on different versions of the same architecture (for instance users can work on several different IT development scenarios).
Support of Archimate® 3.2
ArchiMate® is ‘The Open Group’ standardised modeling language that allows you to describe an enterprise architecture according to the various professions’ processes, its organisation, information flow, IT systems, and technical infrastructure.
ObeoSmartEA supports this standard at the metamodel level as well as via its graphical notation in collaborative mode.
Support of BPMN® 2.0
BPMN® (Business Process Model and Notation) is a modeling language standardized by the Object Management Group (OMG).
It provides both a notation that is readily understandable by all business users, and a digital exchange format that allows to interpret and analyze the processes.
Obeo SmartEA supports this standard at the metamodel level as well as via its graphical notation.
Collaborative modeling
ObeoSmartEA allows several architects to simultaneously work consistently and coherently on the same repository.
Because of our highly agile approach to collaborative working, any changes being made only lock the specific modified elements.
Locks are automatically released when the work is saved and the changes are immediately available to the other users.
Web client
The ObeoSmartEA repository can be accessed by a web client.
With the web client users can browse the repository (according individual access profiles) and its related views (diagrams, tables, and matrices).
ObeoSmartEA provides advanced features allowing comprehensive repository browsing: personalised dashboards, advanced research, favourites, business flows, etc.
Advanced search
The advanced search feature enables users to quickly find repository elements.
Users can select an object type and define the search criteria from attributes values. Specific operators are proposed according to each attribute type.
Impact and gap analysis
You can analyse your architectures to facilitate designing any transformation trajectories.
- Impact analysis: detect the elements affected/impacted by changes in the repository
- Gap analysis: compare current and potential architectures.
Branches management
Obeo SmartEA provides a branch mechanism for defining transformation trajectories. Branches allow users to work simultaneously on different versions of the same architecture
Users can at any time move to a specific branch, compare it with other branches and even merge it with others so as to integrate any modifications from other existing branches.
Architectures Validation
Users can define validation rules that check the content of the repository.
Validation reports can be saved and used to track changes in the repository’s quality over time.
Data federation
External data reflecting the actual state of your company’s architecture can be regularly and automatically imported.
Obeo SmartEA open APIs allow for connectors that can supply the repository according to your needs and according to every data source type.
Users can add several other automated tasks to be carried out on the repository content as required.
Customization and extensibility
Both the metamodel and the predefined views can be modified, extended, or replaced in line with your specific context.
Obeo SmartEA operates natively with EMF and Sirius, both are open source technologies, for defining metamodels and creating tailor–made modelling diagrams.
